A malicious actor cloned Tetra radio signals and reportedly exploited a core network vulnerability to send false General Alarm messages, forcing three Taiwan High Speed Rail trains to perform emergency stops and causing a system-wide delay of approximately 48 minutes. Authorities executed search warrants, seized wireless transmission equipment, questioned a student suspect who faces charges under the Railway Act and criminal code, and warned operators to strengthen Tetra radio authentication and internal communications security to prevent similar radio-spoofing attacks against critical transport infrastructure.
