Indian Crypto Platform Wazirx Hacked: $230 Million Funds Stolen

WazirX disclosed a sophisticated cyber attack on a multisig wallet (managed with Liminal’s custody infrastructure) that led to the theft of more than $230 million. The wallet used six signatories with a 3-of-5 WazirX approval plus a Liminal signatory and had Ledger hardware and a whitelisting policy in place, but attackers manipulated the transaction data displayed in Liminal’s interface (replacing the payload) to bypass controls. WazirX has blocked some deposits, contacted relevant wallets, engaged experts to assist with recovery, and pledged transparency as the investigation continues.
