OpenAI Discloses Mixpanel Data Breach – Name, Email Address and Operating System Details Exposed

OpenAI disclosed that Mixpanel experienced unauthorized access on November 9, 2025, resulting in the export of an analytics dataset that included identifying details (names, emails, approximate locations, OS/browser, referring websites, and account/organization IDs) for some users of the OpenAI API; OpenAI reports no exposure of chat content, API keys, passwords, payment data, or government IDs, has removed Mixpanel from production, is notifying impacted users, and is monitoring for potential phishing or misuse.
