Leicester City Council was hit by a ransomware attack attributed to INC Ransom that prompted shutdown of IT systems, led to the publication of approximately 1.3 TB of stolen council data, and caused operational disruptions (notably streetlights remaining on). The council is working with Leicestershire Police and the NCSC, has notified the ICO and is reviewing the exposed data while refusing to pay the ransom.
