About a quarter million Comcast subscribers had their data stolen from debt collector

Comcast notified customers that personal data for 237,703 subscribers was stolen from third-party debt collector FBCS after a February intrusion in which attackers downloaded files and encrypted systems consistent with a ransomware attack; FBCS has said more than 4 million records were accessed and other former clients (e.g., CF Medical/Capio) have issued notifications. Comcast states its own systems were not breached, is providing support because FBCS lacks funds for credit monitoring, and technical details and attribution remain unclear.
