Kaspersky challenges US government to put up or shut up about Kremlin ties

Kaspersky responded to the U.S. Commerce Department’s ban on its products by proposing independent verification of its software under its Global Transparency Initiative, while asserting the decision is political. The company is complying with the order by halting new U.S. sales, winding down operations, and acknowledging it cannot provide antivirus signature or codebase updates after September 29, though it will offer six months of free updates as a parting gesture. Kaspersky says it will continue offering informational and consulting services in the U.S., including Threat Intelligence, cybersecurity training, and advisory services.
