Verizon says 63K employees' info fell into the wrong hands – an insider this time

Verizon disclosed that in September an employee improperly accessed a file containing personal information for about 63,206 individuals (predominantly current employees), including sensitive PII such as Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses and compensation data. The company reports no evidence of malicious intent or external sharing, is offering two years of identity protection and credit monitoring to affected individuals, and is strengthening technical controls while conducting an internal review.
