Commvault says it's time to rethink resiliency as AI crooks leave victims in a 'dark, dead' state

Commvault CTO Brian Brockway warns that frontier AI tools are reshaping the threat landscape by uncovering massive numbers of software vulnerabilities and enabling attackers to quickly exploit flaws, sometimes leading to destructive campaigns that wipe virtual machines and hypervisors. The report stresses that organizations must assume worse-case destructive scenarios, prioritize recovery of critical systems (identity, billing, databases, cloud services), maintain immutable isolated backups, air-gap recovery environments, and continuously rehearse rebuild and recovery plans in cleanroom environments to reduce downtime and limit impact.
