Hackers ate my homework: Educational SaaS Canvas down after cyberattack

Students and universities experienced outages of the Canvas educational SaaS after the criminal group ShinyHunters claimed responsibility, alleging lax patching, claiming to have stolen data from institutions using the platform, and threatening to leak it unless a settlement is reached; Canvas is investigating with external forensics and has partially restored service while customers are warned about increased phishing risk.
