CISA looked at C/C++ projects and found a lot of C/C++ code. Wanna redo any of it in Rust?

CISA, with international partners, analyzed 172 critical open-source projects and found that over half include code written in memory-unsafe languages (notably C/C++), accounting for 55% of total lines of code; even projects in memory-safe languages can be exposed via unsafe dependencies. The report urges organizations to prioritize memory safety—consider rewrites or use of memory-safe languages like Rust, and where not feasible apply static analysis and fuzzing—to reduce widespread memory-safety vulnerabilities in critical software.
