Microsoft seizes websites used to sell phony email accounts to Scattered Spider and other crims

Microsoft seized US-based infrastructure used by the cybercrime group Storm-1152, which sold fraudulent Outlook accounts (reported as 750 million) and CAPTCHA-defeating services. Court filings allege Storm-1152’s services enabled other criminal groups, including Scattered Spider/Octo Tempest, to conduct phishing and massive ransomware attacks against organizations such as Caesars and MGM, causing tens to hundreds of millions in losses; three individuals in Vietnam are named as operators.
