Attack on Oxford City Council exposes 21 years of election worker data

Oxford City Council disclosed a cyberattack on June 7–8 that resulted in unauthorized access to 21 years of historic election-worker personal data (2001–2022). Automated systems detected the activity and revoked access, external specialists were brought in, and some council services were temporarily taken offline for remediation; the council states there is no evidence of mass data exfiltration or sharing and has contacted potentially affected individuals.
