Two arrested in UK over 'fake cell tower-powered' smishing campaign

UK police arrested two people linked to an SMS phishing (smishing) campaign that allegedly used a homemade mobile antenna / "text message blaster" to send thousands of fraudulent texts impersonating banks and official organisations. One individual has been charged with possession of articles for use in fraud; investigators are coordinating with network operators, Ofcom, and the NCSC while considering whether the device was a SIM-bank/phone-farm or an IMSI-catcher-style apparatus.
