1 in 10 orgs dumping their security vendors after CrowdStrike outage

Germany’s BSI reports that among 311 organizations affected by CrowdStrike’s July outage, 4% have already abandoned current security solutions and another 6% plan to, 20% will change vendor selection criteria, 48% experienced temporary downtime averaging 10 hours, and 66% aim to improve incident response. Many first learned of the issue via social media, and some now favor installing updates more regularly despite the outage stemming from a faulty Falcon sensor channel file pushed via auto-update. BSI and Bitkom emphasize collaboration with vendors and stronger resilience planning, while the disruption had global, cross-sector impacts.
