A Deloitte-managed Rhode Island benefits portal (RIBridges) was breached in early December, with evidence of malware installation and a high probability that sensitive personally identifiable information (names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and some banking information) was stolen. The system remains offline while remediation and investigations continue; Deloitte engaged Experian for support, law enforcement is involved, and the Brain Cipher ransomware group has publicly claimed stolen data though attribution remains unconfirmed.
