Ransomware crooks knock Swedish municipalities offline for measly sum of $168K

Sweden's municipal IT supplier Miljödata was hit by a ransomware attack that disrupted HR, sick-leave and incident-reporting systems for roughly 200 of 290 municipalities. The attackers demanded 1.5 BTC (~$168k); authorities including local police and CERT-SE are involved and regions warn that sensitive employee personal data may have been exposed while the vendor denies evidence of theft.
