Netcraft reports a surge in health-product scam campaigns leveraging inexpensive gTLDs—especially .sbs and .cloud—to host fake news-style pages that imitate legitimate outlets and falsely claim celebrity endorsements, including Shark Tank judges. The analysis shows significant spikes in mid-2023, with thousands of IPs and a substantial share of new registrations in these TLDs used for scams, illustrating how low-cost, distributed domain infrastructure complicates takedown efforts; the FTC has also warned consumers about such fake endorsements.
