North Korean chap charged for attacks on US hospitals, miiltary, NASA – and even China

The DOJ indicted a North Korean national, Rim Jong Hyok, accusing him of participating in ransomware and extortion campaigns that used malware developed by North Korea’s RGB cyber units (identified as Andariel/Onyx Sleet/Silent Chollima) to target US hospitals and healthcare providers, defense contractors, NASA, and foreign companies; Microsoft and Mandiant link the activity to long-running APT operations with custom tooling (LightHand, BlackRAT, Dora RAT, Maui) and exploitation of known vulnerabilities, authorities seized some illicit funds but the accused remains at large with a $10M reward offered.
