That call center tech scammer could be a human trafficking victim

Interpol's Operation Storm Makers II found that human trafficking for the purpose of staffing cyber scam call centers has expanded beyond Southeast Asia to regions including South America and the Middle East. The report details how victims are lured via fake job adverts and forced to run scams (cryptocurrency, work-from-home, lottery, romance, gambling), describes severe abuses (debt bondage, beatings, sexual exploitation), and states the operation led to hundreds of arrests and over 140 rescues while many investigations remain ongoing.
