A Maryland man pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud for outsourcing his software-development contracts — including work on an FAA-related government program — to a foreign coder in China who posed as a North Korean developer. The conspirators used falsified resumes, remote-access software, and so-called "laptop farm" techniques to mask location and enable the overseas developer to work on company-issued devices, granting unauthorized access to sensitive U.S. government systems; the scheme involved at least 13 companies and netted about $970,000.
