Cybercriminals swipe 15.8M medical records from French doctors ministry

Attackers breached Cegedim Santé, the supplier behind the MonLogicielMedical software, and stole roughly 15.8 million administrative patient files — including about 165,000 doctors' free-text notes that in limited cases contained highly sensitive medical information (e.g., HIV status, sexual orientation); the vendor says around 1,500 doctors were affected. The report also notes a separate incident where France's finance ministry had details for about 1.2 million bank accounts accessed, indicating multiple high-impact data breaches affecting government-related systems.
