Google blocked 2.3M apps from Play Store last year for breaking the G law

Google’s latest report says it prevented 2.28 million Android apps from reaching the Play Store in 2023 due to security and policy violations, banned 333,000 developer accounts, and rejected 200,000 apps over sensitive permissions, attributing gains to new policies, improved security tooling, and ML-driven reviews. The company cautions that methodology changes affect year-over-year comparisons and acknowledges ongoing gaps, citing a snooping screen recorder app caught only after an external alert from ESET.
