That cyber-heist of 2.9B personal records? There's a class-action lawsuit looming for that

A class-action lawsuit alleges that Florida data broker National Public Data negligently stored and failed to secure roughly 2.7–2.9 billion records containing highly sensitive PII (names, addresses, multi-decade address histories, Social Security numbers, and familial relationships). The data was allegedly exfiltrated by an actor known as SXUL, sold via the criminal seller USDoD for about $3.5M, and later began circulating freely on the dark web; plaintiffs seek mandatory data destruction, encryption and infosec programs, third-party audits/pen tests, and monetary damages.
