Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) is enforcing AES‑256 encryption for specific Enhanced Trading Interface (ETI) messages—especially price quote requests—to protect confidentiality and integrity, following SEBI’s mandate. While some ETI traffic already used TLS for low-frequency sessions, unencrypted channels remained for certain functions; BSE began parallel testing on March 28, initially planned to disable the non-encrypted channel on May 13, later extending to June 8, urging participants to migrate. Industry sources note encryption’s processing overhead may have delayed full adoption.
