Ingram Micro admits summer ransomware raid exposed thousands of staff records

In July 2025 Ingram Micro experienced a ransomware incident (claimed by group SafePay) that led to the compromise of personal and employment-related records for 42,521 employees and applicants, including names, contact details, dates of birth, passports, driver’s licence numbers and Social Security numbers; the company detected the intrusion on July 3, took systems offline, engaged cybersecurity experts and law enforcement, and partially resumed operations while the attacker threatened to publish 3.5 TB of stolen files.
