Google sues 25 alleged BadBox 2.0 botnet operators, all of whom are in China

Google has filed a lawsuit alleging BadBox 2.0 — a botnet of more than ten million infected AOSP-based devices (connected TVs, tablets, projectors, car infotainment systems) — is being operated by an organized enterprise that preinstalls backdoors, runs C2/domains, and monetizes access via ad fraud, residential proxy services, DDoS, credential theft and other schemes; the filing outlines the botnet's group structure (infrastructure, backdoor, evil-twin apps, ad-games) and follows prior disruption efforts by Human Security, Trend Micro and Shadowserver.
