ShinyHunters tells The Reg: We hacked the FBI to 'protect our business'

ShinyHunters claims to have breached the FBIJobs.gov portal and AWS GovCloud-managed servers by exploiting an unpatched Oracle PeopleSoft zero-day, stealing thousands of FBI personnel files (including home addresses, phone numbers, emails, Social Security numbers and other PII), and has used similar extortion campaigns against companies such as Instructure/Canvas; the group frames the FBI intrusion as a demonstration of capability and a PR/marketing move to bolster their extortion business.
