Australian Police conducted supply chain attack on criminal collaborationware

Australian Federal Police (Operation Kraken) arrested the alleged operator of Ghost, a criminal-focused encrypted messaging app, after infiltrating the app and modifying its software updates to access device content. The operation, described as a supply-chain-style compromise of Ghost’s update mechanism, informed raids across multiple states that resulted in arrests, weapons and drug seizures, and the prevention of numerous violent acts linked to organized crime groups using the platform.
