Turns out most cybercriminals are old enough to know better

Analysis of 418 publicly announced law enforcement actions (2021–mid-2025) shows that most cybercrime arrests involve adults aged 25–44—35–44-year-olds account for 37% and 25–34-year-olds 30%—while teenagers and minors constitute a much smaller share. The report finds that as offenders age their activities skew toward monetizable, organized operations (selling stolen data, extortion, malware, espionage), suggesting modern cybercrime resembles business-like enterprises rather than teenage hacking stunts.
