U.S. authorities arrested several individuals accused of facilitating a North Korea-linked scheme that used stolen U.S. identities, laptop farms, and fraudulent websites to place overseas (including North Korean) IT workers into legitimate U.S. jobs, siphoning about $6.8M and victimizing over 300 companies; charges include wire fraud, identity theft, money laundering, and operating as an unlicensed money transmitter, and the activity is described as a sanctions-evasion campaign benefitting the DPRK.
