Cybercrooks get cozy with BoxedApp to dodge detection

Malware authors have increasingly abused the BoxedApp commercial packer since March 2023 to hide remote access trojans, infostealers and ransomware from detection; Check Point Research observed a spike in malicious BoxedApp-packed samples, provides Yara rules and sample hashes, and warns this technique lowers detection rates while complicating analysis for defenders.
