Group-IB's whitepaper warns that AI has become foundational to modern cybercrime: inexpensive Dark LLMs, deepfake and synthetic identity kits, and AI-assisted tooling are commercialized and scaling scams globally, driving substantial verified losses (e.g., $347M in one quarter) and thousands of fraud attempts. The report highlights how AI enables automation, hyper-personalization, and stealth (synthetic voices/text/video), complicating attribution and defensive detection and raising the risk of more autonomous attacks in the future.
