The British Library experienced a significant ransomware attack by the Rhysida gang that disrupted research services, caused loss and publication of staff and user data, and prompted an extensive, transparent recovery effort focused on wellbeing, communications, legacy system retirement, and deployment of MFA; the institution worked closely with NCSC and partners and expects full technical restoration to take substantial time.
