Uncle Sam to inject $50M into auto-patcher for hospital IT

ARPA-H has committed over $50M to the Universal PatchinG and Remediation for Autonomous DEfense (UPGRADE) initiative to create an automated platform that detects, tests (via digital twins), and deploys mitigations and patches for vulnerabilities across hospital IT and networked medical devices with minimal disruption. The program seeks teams to build a vulnerability mitigation platform, digital twins, automated flaw detection, and custom defenses in alignment with HHS healthcare cybersecurity goals, and references related AI-driven efforts like DARPA’s AIxCC competition.
