4chan reported a cyberattack on April 14 in which an attacker using a UK IP exploited outdated server software via a bogus PDF upload to gain database and admin access, exfiltrating database tables and source code and vandalizing the site; the service has since replaced the breached server, disabled PDF uploads, and applied updates while relying on volunteer techs for further remediation.
