The post-quantum cryptography apocalypse will be televised in 10 years, says UK's NCSC

The UK NCSC issued guidance launching a 10-year roadmap for organizations to migrate to post-quantum cryptography, targeting planning by 2028, completion of high-priority migrations by 2031, and full migration by 2035. The advisory highlights sector-specific complexities (notably OT/IoT and critical infrastructure), the need for budgeting and governance over multiple years, and a likely period of running PKC and PQC in parallel, while noting that symmetric crypto with ≥128-bit keys and modern hashes remain viable. It references new NIST PQC standards available now and frames PQC migration as a necessary, global effort to reduce future cryptographic risk.
