Americans who masterminded Nork IT worker fraud sentenced to 200 months behind bars

Two US nationals were convicted for running a multi-year scheme (2021–2024) that placed North Korean IT workers in roles at over 100 US companies — including a US defense contractor — by stealing identities, operating laptop farms to mask geolocation, and using US shell companies to receive payments; the operation generated about $5M for North Korea, caused roughly $3M in victim losses, exposed sensitive employer/ITAR data, and resulted in lengthy prison sentences and ongoing searches for additional co-conspirators.
