Google is upgrading Chrome’s Standard Safe Browsing to provide privacy-preserving, real-time protection on desktop and iOS (Android soon) by replacing periodic local blocklists with hashed URL-prefix lookups sent through an Oblivious HTTP relay operated by Fastly, preventing Google from linking users to site checks; local caching and asynchronous requests reduce latency, and iOS Password Checkup now also flags weak and reused passwords.
