Redefining identity security in the age of agentic AI

This article argues that as autonomous, agentic AI systems proliferate, identity security must evolve to treat machine agents like privileged users, emphasizing dynamic, context-aware controls. It highlights risks such as impersonation, unauthorized autonomous actions, and data manipulation, and recommends a framework centered on inventorying machine identities, defining behavioral boundaries, adopting just-in-time access, validating purpose-driven actions, and continuous auditing with tamper-proof logging. The piece promotes an identity-first approach, positioning it as essential to enabling secure AI autonomy and organizational resilience.
