Google Chrome gets a mind of its own for some security fixes

Google has upgraded Chrome’s Safety Check to run automatically in the background, revoking unused site permissions, flagging or auto-canceling abusive or deceptive notifications via Safe Browsing, and alerting users to risky extensions; mobile now provides action summaries and reminders, while Pixel devices feature an Unsubscribe button that has reduced notification volume by 30%. One-time permissions (added in Chrome 116) further limit persistent access to sensitive data, and Google states the periodic checks have minimal battery impact.
