Cybercriminals raid BBC pension database, steal records of over 25,000 people

The BBC Pension Scheme experienced an unauthorized access to a cloud database that resulted in the theft of personal data for approximately 25,290 members (names, NI numbers, dates of birth, sex, and home addresses). The breach was detected on May 21, the database has been locked down, affected members were notified and offered two years of Experian credit monitoring, and the incident has been reported to the Information Commissioner's Office and the Pensions Regulator; there is currently no reported misuse of the stolen data.
