Vietnam to develop domestic cloud so it can ditch risky overseas operators for government workloads

Vietnam's government announced Decision 808 to develop a domestic national cloud platform and 20 strategic technologies — including large-scale Vietnamese language models, virtual assistants, AI-driven services, next-generation firewalls, anti-malware, SIEM, AI-integrated SOC, quantum-resistant encryption, and user/entity behavior analytics — with targets to have core services online by 2030 and a fully developed digital nation by 2035, aiming to ensure data sovereignty and reduce dependence on foreign cloud providers.
