Britain goes shopping for a rapid-fire missile to help Ukraine hit back

The UK Ministry of Defence has launched Project Nightfall, a rapid program to fund three industry teams (£9 million each) to design and test ground-launched ballistic missiles with a range over 500 km and a 200 kg HE warhead for Ukraine within 12 months, emphasizing reuse of existing components, vehicle-based launch for quick shoot-and-scoot operations, resilience to heavy electromagnetic interference, a target production rate of ten per month, and a unit cost capped at £800,000; the effort is intended to bolster Ukraine’s long-range strike capability and may inform future UK Armed Forces programs.
