2.5M patients infected with data loss in Norton Healthcare ransomware outbreak

Norton Healthcare disclosed a ransomware-related data breach in May affecting about 2.5 million people, where attackers accessed names, contact information, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and potentially driver’s license numbers, financial account details, health and insurance information. AlphV/BlackCat affiliates claimed responsibility and posted the organization on their leak site; Norton notified law enforcement, engaged forensic assistance, reported no ransom payment, and said its medical record system and MyChart were not accessed.
