Amazon blocked 1,800 suspected North Korean scammers seeking jobs

Amazon and other Western firms are being targeted by a large-scale North Korean employment fraud campaign: operators use fake or hijacked identities, AI-crafted résumés and deepfakes for interviews, stolen credentials to inhabit dormant accounts, and US-based "laptop farmers" to appear local. Once hired, actors remit wages to DPRK and sometimes steal proprietary code or extort employers; defenders rely on AI screening, human verification, background checks, keystroke/behavioral signals, and anomaly detection to mitigate risk.
