The PSNI review of the August data breach found that the identities of 9,483 serving officers were exposed online, causing relocations, mental-health impacts, over 4,000 staff seeking support, legal complaints, and estimated costs of £24–37M; the report identifies widespread data protection and governance failings (incomplete DPIAs, weak DPO arrangements, delayed audits) and recommends elevating information-security leadership and embedding stronger controls across the force.
