EV charger biz ELECQ zapped by ransomware crooks, customer contact data stolen

ELECQ, a maker of smart EV chargers, detected unusual activity on its AWS cloud on March 7 and discovered a ransomware intrusion that encrypted and copied customer databases. The stolen data reportedly includes names, emails, phone numbers, and home addresses; no payment data or device integrity issues were reported. ELECQ took affected servers offline, engaged external forensic specialists, reported the incident to regulators, and advised customers to reset passwords and monitor for phishing.
