The UK MoD reported successful British Army trials of a 15-kW infrared High-Energy Laser Weapon System (HELWS) mounted on a Wolfhound vehicle, which tracked and neutralized hovering and moving drone targets at over 1 km, advancing the Laser Directed Energy Weapon (LDEW) demonstrator. The effort, conducted at Radnor Range and building on prior firings at Porton Down, is a capability demonstrator to inform future frontline deployment, while parallel initiatives include the Royal Navy’s [DragonFire program]() and the RAF’s [laser self-protection system]().
