British military to get legal OK to swat drones near bases

The UK’s Armed Forces Bill will authorize defense personnel to neutralize threatening drones at military sites amid a sharp rise in sightings, expanding powers previously limited to police and select agencies. The Ministry of Defence is investing over £200 million in counter-UAS measures, including RF jammers, directed-energy systems, lasers, advanced CCTV, restricted airspace, and guard drones, following demonstrations and a high-profile perimeter breach at Brize Norton. The bill, primarily renewing the Armed Forces Act 2006, is progressing through Parliament after its second reading in January.
