Kids say they can beat age checks by drawing on a fake mustache

Internet Matters surveyed over 1,000 UK children and their parents and found that 46% of children think age checks are easy to bypass and 32% admit to doing so, using methods like fake birthdays, borrowed IDs, video-game avatars to fool selfie systems, or even drawing mustaches; 17% of parents admitted helping or allowing evasion. The report concludes that the Online Safety Act’s age-verification measures are currently insufficient to prevent children encountering harmful content and calls for stronger industry and government action.
